After briefly looking though my blog, I know I do not want to look at anything involving advertising. I think that we went into great detail with the different ways that companies market their products. I think I want to spend more time looking at subliminal messages that are imbedded into children's media. We spent a little bit of time on this topic with the episode of Spongebob that we watched, but I think it would be interesting to see other ways that messages are portrayed in children's cartoons.

Competing products/services

Two companies that are “at war” with each other are verizon fios and another cable company. In their commercials, this cable company mimics the fios commercials but makes them seem much less reliable and like a much poorer service. I think fios has success in the marketing competition because they did not have to resort to such blatant mockery like this cable company did.

"How will ethics play a role in your advertising project?"

Ethics will be present in our advertising project because Allie and I are not scummy people. There will not be anything dirty or sketchy about the way we promote our product. Also, our product itself isn’t anything that could be considered controversial in any way, shape, or form.

"Not Just Words"

The first thing I think of with this photo is that it is showing that the power is no longer in the hands of the people, but those of the corporations. Then, I see that there is a huge clash in the different logos that are represented. In the same small space, they have Disney and Playboy as well as Nike and Camel. This contrast shows that it is not just one type of company that has power in the United States and that anybody, no matter what they are selling, has the ability to rule the country. One of the different titles I came up with for this photo was "The United Corporations of America" because the company's logos replace the states of the country and they all work together to have power over the people.
